Room 15's Camp Day Three

On Thursday Room 15 had a lot of activities to do. First we went to the Redwood Forest before we did some travelling to Taupo. In the Redwood Forest we did a scavenger hunt. We went for a 30 minute walk. There were a lot of native bushes there. I thought it would just be trees.
After the Redwood Forest we travelled to Taupo to go to the Lava Glass Studio. There was heaps of creative glasses. We went into the room where they make the glasses. It was steaming hot it looked pretty easy to make but I think it would be hard work for working in that heat. We left from the Lava Glass Studio to go to the AMAZING Huka Falls!!
When we got out of the bus we herd very powerful water swishing. The water was very clear. It was very hot day I just wanted to jump in there but I didn't because I would get a lot of injuries or I will just die.
After the falls we left to go to the Honey Hive. We went inside and there was a man talking to us about all the different bees. The boy bees are lazy and the worker bees do a lot. There is even queen bees. Then we left the Honey Hive to go to the Volcanic Activity Centre
When we first got to the Volcanic Activity Centre a lady talked to us. When she finished her talk we had to do a worksheet. There was an earthquake simulator and I went in it. It felt like you were in a huge earthquake.
After the Volcanic Centre we went to our camp site in Taupo. We packed all of our bags into our rooms. For tea we had a BBQ and for dessert we had candy floss YUM!! After that we had showers, we changed into our pyjamas and played some board games and then went to bed.

Room 15's Camp Day Two

Room 15 had a very exciting day on Wednesday.
First we went to the Kuirau Park we went around and had a look at all the steam pools. There was steaming pools with just normal water but then we got a bit further ahead and we saw some hot, steaming, smelly, bubbly mud pools. They were very smelly.
We left Kuirau Park and went to the Gondola and the Luge. First we went up on the Gondola's to get to the Luge. We had to wait for a bit before we went on the Luge. We got 2 turns on the Luge. First we started off with beginners. After we had a ride on the beginners we went back up on the chair lift for our second turn but this time we got to choose what difficulty we wanted to go on. I picked advanced. I was going really fast and unexpectedly a ramp came up and when I went up it I thought I was flying. There was also a tilt when you were driving. It felt like you were going to tip over and I got to the end without crashing.
After the luge and the Gondola we went to the Lion Park. We got to pat some lion cubs. We went over to see some big lions. The biggest lions name was called Max and their were a lot more lions too. The lion keeper was giving the lions horse meat. When I looked at the meat it was hairy. Max had very big eyes when he saw the meat.
After the Lion Park we went to the pools. It was fun. The thing I enjoyed at the pools was doing bombs in the water. After the pools we went back to Keswick camp, had tea and then watched another move, The Muppets.

Room 15's Camp Day One

Room 15 had a very exciting Camp in Rotorua and Taupo. We went to a huge amount of places. On the first day we did a lot of travelling. We stopped at the Raetihi Park for morning tea. We couldn't wait for all the exciting places we were going. We stopped in Taupo park for lunch. We left Taupo at 2:45 to go to Rotorua. That's where we did all of the exciting things.
When we got to Rotorua we went on the duck tour. The duck tour is a bus and a boat. When we got into the boat we got duck Quackers and we were driving around and blowing the duck Quackers to give people a bit of entertainment. We went to the blue lake it was called TikiTapu there was a lady who lost her necklace in the lake when she was trying to swim to her husband that's why its called TikiTapu. I had fun on the duck tour.
After duck tour we arrived at camp. We slept at the Keswick camp, our camp host name was Mark. When we got there we were just playing around. We went to the dinning room for our tea we had roast potatoes, roast beef , vegetables and gravy. For dessert we had ice-cream with peaches. After our tea we had to do our duties. After our duties we played around again then we watched a movie, the movie we watched was School of Rock. We went to bed at 9:30.

Habits Of Mind

For our habits of mind we are learning about taking responsible risks. We talked about how books have risky characters. I choose Iron Man because he takes lots of responsible risks. He takes responsible risks because he always gets hurt. After he gets hurt he gets back up and keeps fighting.

Week 3 Reflection

What: This week we went to Badminton. First we did stretches then we had a warm-up game. Then we got into a competition. If you lost well then you rotate to another court where the other person lost. If you win  you will have to face the other person that won. If you had a draw you had to do paper, scissors, rock. I won two, lost two and drew two. Yesterday we did Kapa Haka. We did our Haka Powhiri  it was loud, we learnt a new song it was about fingers and how many fingers you had. Then we got into a game of Maui, Matau. I got closer than I normally do to winning. But Caleb E won. On Monday we had bike safety with Constable Val. Some people brought their bikes to school and Constable Val set up an obstacle course. We went out to the obstacle course and there were cones, a ladder and a stop sign and a ramp. We painted our initials and I am doing all the techniques that we learnt.

So What: This week our habit of mind is to take responsible risks I have learnt how to use different techniques in art and I have learnt how to get closer to winning at  Maui Matau.

Now What: Next Week I want to try not to get kicked out of the class and to finish all of my work so I can go swimming.
